I'm not sure from context in which city, airport, country the passenger with broken, painful ankle was so heedlessly jostled, but at airports in US or W. Europe it has been comparatively simple to avoid such problems for my customary travel companion whose hip arthritis allows walking, but not rapid walking. She requests wheelchair service when arriving at terminal, or if there is only a short walk to gate, she quickly joins the early boarfdng shuffle when gate agent(s) announce it. It is ordinarily enough to avoid the accidental/unaware ankle kicking described above.
